An ode to a decade of the popular Seventies family German watchmaker Glashütte Original introduces the Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph, a bold new chronograph limited to just 100 pieces and available exclusively in North America. This special edition blends refined mechanics powered by the reliable beat of a hand-finished automatic movement and that of the relaxed spirit of American leisure, showcasing what it takes to be a timeless classic. Designed and built in-house by the Saxon manufactory and captured poolside in the vibrant Miami Beach, the special edition will be available from July 2025 at North American authorized dealers.

An Icon Reimagined for a New Era of Lifestyle and Leisure
We traveled to Miami Beach, Florida to shoot an editorial campaign that captures the spirit of the 1970s with a modern twist, embracing a sense of charming informality. Set at a vibrant retreat just steps from iconic South Beach — known for its lively atmosphere and creative design — the campaign celebrates American lifestyle and leisure. With tailored resort wear, poolside lounging, and a backdrop of Mediterranean Revival architecture, the atmosphere is both playful and refined. The watch reflects this mood: confident, polished, yet effortlessly relaxed.

Celebrating a decade
Glashütte Original introduced the Seventies line a decade ago, inspired by one of the most iconic eras in design. To mark this anniversary, we’ve created a special limited-edition timepiece. The signature square case frames a matte white lacquer dial, featuring two black galvanized subdials with a fine vinyl-style pattern. Bold white indices add contrast, while a red 10 marker commemorates the milestone. The red stop-second chronograph hand echoes this celebratory touch. Each of the 100 pieces includes both a rubber strap with butterfly clasp and a stainless-steel bracelet — so there’s no need to choose between style and function.

Our first timepiece created exclusively for North America
For the first time ever, the Seventies line introduces a timepiece created exclusively for North America. While previous limited editions have had global availability, the Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph is a celebratory step in offering a regionally exclusive expression of American Lifestyle. This iconic timepiece combines the typical Glashütte Original Panorama Date with the most important chronograph functions in a watch of a pleasing size: stop-second, flyback function, 30-minute display and numeric 12-hour display. The display of the power reserve is harmoniously integrated in the small second sub-dial.

What goes into an Icon
The Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph features a square 40 x 40 mm stainless steel case, which is carefully polished and satin brushed. You will find a caliber 37-02 manufactory movement inside that offers maximum precision and reliability. The multi-talented mechanical movement with automatic winding ensures optimal user-friendliness and boasts a running time up to 70 hours, while the chronograph profits from a column wheel with flyback function. The entire movement is enhanced by traditional Glashütte finishing: the edges are beveled and polished, the tiny screws are polished and blued. The characteristic three- quarter plate, balance cock and skeletonized rotor are adorned with the refined Glashütte stripe finish.

The North American Exclusive Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph is limited to 100 pieces and will be available from July 2025 in North American Authorized Dealers.
