There are several key factors to consider to ensure a watch fits comfortably and looks proportionate on a woman's wrist. Follow these specific recommendations for a guided selection:

Wrist Circumference

Begin by measuring the wrist circumference. This can be done with a flexible tape measure, wrapping it around the wrist just above the wrist bone. If a tape measure isn't available, you can use a strip of paper or string. Simply mark where it overlaps and then measure against a ruler.

Once you have the wrist size, you can choose the appropriate watch case diameter and band length more accurately.

Watch Case Size: Women's watches generally range from 26mm to 38mm in diameter. For smaller wrists, approximately 14cm or less, watches in the 26mm to 32mm range are often most flattering. For larger wrists, around 17cm and above, watches from 33mm to 38mm typically look best. It's crucial that the watch is neither too small nor too large for the wrist.

Watch Band Length: The band's material (metal, leather, rubber, etc.) influences how the watch fits. The band should be long enough for a comfortable fit. Many metal bands offer the option of removing or purchasing links for adjustment, while leather or fabric straps often come with multiple holes to accommodate different wrist sizes. Some brands also offer short or long straps for the perfect fit.

This approach will ensure that the watch you choose, whether for yourself or as a gift, is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable for a woman's wrist. Having noted the above, should the fit not be perfect you are always welcome to join us in our showroom to have adjustments made.

The life expectancy of your watch can vary widely but can often last for generations if well cared for. Proper watch care, which includes avoiding extreme temperature changes, conducting regular cleaning, and providing protection from physical shocks or magnetic fields, can extend the life of your timepiece.

We recommend servicing your watch to ensure its longevity and accuracy. Handling your piece with respect will help avoid unnecessary scratches and damage. Always ensure your winding crown is pushed and/or screwed down to prevent water or dust penetration.

For a mechanical watch, the service interval can vary by brand. However, anticipate an overhaul every 5-10 years. For a quartz (battery) operated watch, anticipate a battery replacement every 2 years and a service every 7-10 years.
